Overview of North Salt Lake
As the name implies, the city of North Salt Lake does indeed reside north of Salt Lake City. However, the city itself is nestled east of The Great Salt Lake and west of The Wasatch Front. Many neighborhoods in the town sit right at the foothills of what locals call "Point of the Mountain." This geographic feature separates Salt Lake County from Davis County.
Living in North Salt Lake
The city is a fairly new addition to the Wasatch Front. The town was only incorporated in the 1940s. Of course, the surrounding area was populated from the time Mormon settlers arrived in 1849. Once a dispute about water rights arose, however, it became necessary for the city of North Salt Lake to be born.
With the Wasatch Range sitting right at the doorstep of those who rent here, it's no surprise that outdoor activities are common. On weekends, locals frequently find themselves hiking, skiing, hunting or fishing. The more adventurous, however, may want to try paragliding over neighborhoods by launching off Point of the Mountain.
There is plenty of excitement for apartments renters who may not care for the great outdoors. Downtown Salt Lake is home to the Utah Symphony, Ballet West and the Pioneer Theater Company.
Sports fans will also feel right at home here too. Professional sports teams include the Utah Jazz, the Salt Lake Bees and Real Salt Lake.
Those renting an apartment here will be happy to know that public transportation options abound. The Utah Transit Authority, or UTA, runs several bus lines, a light rail and a commuter train. Additionally, Interstate 15 runs right past the city. However, it's important to note that traffic at Point of the Mountain gets snarled during morning and evening rush hours.
