Dupont Circle is a neighborhood located in the northwest section of Washington, D.C. The community is characterized by a large number of rowhouses that were mostly built before 1900 and they are considered some of Washington, D.C.'s best examples of Second Empire architecture. Dupont Circle is also a well known traffic circle in the city, with the neighborhood centered around this circle. It contains many embassies that are located within historic homes, including those for Indonesia and Uzbekistan. Dupont Circle is an ideal community for those working in Washington, D.C. as there is a convenient Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Metrorail subway station located directly beneath the circle itself. The station is located on the Metro red line, which connects to the Smithsonian, Metro Triangle and Federal Triangle stops within minutes. Trains begin service on weekdays at 5 AM and weekends at 7 AM, with service ending at 12 AM Sunday through Thursday and 3 AM on Friday and Saturday nights. WMATA also operates bus service to and from Dupont Circle, served by main routes G2, L2 and 42. The bus lines generally run from 5 AM to 1 AM, with each route having its own timetable.

The community is also home to the private Emerson Preparatory School, the oldest non-denominational prep school in Washington, D.C.
