Maple Valley, WA
Overview of Maple Valley
Maple Valley, WA is a fast-growing community located in dynamic King County. Sitting due east of both Seattle and Tacoma, Maple Valley is close enough to both cities to take advantage of job opportunities and attractions but has enough of a buffer to maintain its small town vibe. With approximately 23,000 residents, Maple Valley is a great place for families to live, with about one-third of the population under the age of 18 and almost 9 percent of Maple Valley's populous under the age of 5. Maple Valley apartments for rent offer affordable comfort in the great Pacific Northwest.
Living in Maple Valley, WA
The first European settlers to arrive in Maple Valley came in 1879. Within a few years, cabins began to dot the landscape, and lumber quickly became a major industry. The Pacific Northwest is not known for its large number of maple trees, so the name Maple Valley may seem a bit misleading. Interestingly enough, the name for the town was literally picked out of a hat.
Maple Valley was only officially incorporated in 1997, but the community has continued to grow because residents of Maple Valley have easy access to jobs throughout King County. A little more than 30 percent of residents are employed in the fields of administrative services and health and education, with retail, technology and government-related positions also making up a large portion of the city's workforce.
Maple Valley Attractions and Special Events
Maple Valley is home to a handful of parks and lovely area trails, including the Cedar River Trail, which travels down the old railroad right of way. Residents also enjoy a plethora of flora in the Lake Wilderness Arboretum, where 40 acres of plants, trees and shrubs all make their home.
For fans of the greens, the Lake Wilderness Golf Course offers a top-notch golfing experience for any resident looking to improve on their putting skills. With these natural spots located mere minutes from most Maple Valley apartments, there's no excuse not to get outside in this town!
