Overview of Lower Queen Anne

The Seattle area has over three million people, but the city's sprawling greenery has earned the city the nickname, "the Emerald City." And despite being so close to downtown, Lower Queen Anne is no exception. While the neighborhood is quaint and residential, it still offers a mix of nature, shopping, nightlife, and business. Lower Queen Anne is an excellent location for anyone who wants access to both residential and urban areas.

Lower Queen Anne Apartment Info

Lower Queen Anne apartments range from studios to townhouses with three bedrooms. It is possible to rent single bedroom or studio apartments in Lower Queen Anne for around $1,100 to $1,500. More luxurious buildings, with more bedrooms, bathrooms, and amenities, will rent units for upwards of $3,500.

It is not difficult to find Lower Queen Anne apartments with a wide selection of amenities, including fitness centers, parking, storage, private balconies, and so forth. Since Lower Queen Anne is so close to downtown, many of these buildings also offer excellent views of the Space Needle, Puget Sound, and downtown.

Lower Queen Anne Dining & Entertainment

This neighborhood is home to a variety of upscale cafes, restaurants, bars, and shopping. The nearby SeattleCenter constantly offers activities and events, such as concerts and plays. Lower Queen Anne also holds many annual events, such as the Folk Life Blues Festival, the Decibel Music Festival, cultural events, art conventions, and more.

Nightlife in Lower Queen Anne does not go overboard, and tends to cater to a more affluent post-graduate crowd. For those interested in more exciting entertainment, this location provides easy access to some of Seattle's busier nightlife scenes, such as Belltown and Broadway.

Anyone who needs to get away for the weekend will find several large parks near Lower Queen Anne, Seattle, such as Discovery Park or Carkeek Park. Camping areas, hiking trails, and other outdoor activities are only a short drive from Seattle.

Pet Friendly Lower Queen Anne Resources

Lower Queen Anne in Seattle offers many pet-friendly apartments, and quick access to any type of amenity that pet owners could ask for. This section of town has at least one grooming facility, animal hospital, and more than one pet store.

Its wide streets are not nearly as congested as other parts of the city, and are excellent for walking dogs. The city has over a dozen dog parks, such as Carkeek Park and the massive dog park at Magnuson.

Commuting Around Lower Queen Anne

A sprawling city has its downsides: Seattle consistently ranks in the top ten most congested cities in the country. The city's rush hour traffic is by far the worst on major thoroughfares. Commuting on I5, 99, or across the water to Redmond almost always means heavy traffic. What would otherwise take less than an hour can take up to two.

Seattle's bus system does an excellent job of connecting the various parts of the city, however, and can offer drivers some relief from the traffic. Additionally, Lower Queen Anne's central location does offer a shorter commute to neighborhoods close to the city proper.

Lower Queen Anne Schools

Seattle has the largest public school district in the state, which serves the entire city. As with all public school systems, enrollment is based on location. Queen Anne has its own elementary schools and a high school. The school system reflects the city's ethnic diversity, with less than half being Caucasian and the rest being a mix of other ethnicities.

Seattle has several universities and community colleges, such as the University of Washington and Seattle University. The closest college to Lower Queen Anne is Seattle Pacific University, which is located only a few minutes away, in Upper Queen Anne.
