Home to 19,204 people, Silverdale, Wash., boasts both natural beauty and a bit of suburban convenience. Home to the West Coast Trident Submarine Base at Bangor, Silverdale has a large population of military families and personnel. Silverdale remains unincorporated to this day, as natives are wary of incorporation and development. Located in Kitsap County, Silverdale is positioned around beautiful Dyes Inlet of Puget Sound. Those looking for Silverdale apartments for rent will enjoy a mix of untouched nature and a variety of modern subdivisions, shopping and commercial centers.
Loggers settled in Silverdale in 1854, bringing with them industry and expansion. After lumber resources came agricultural opportunities, and many family farms began to thrive throughout the area. The Farmer's Cooperative was formed in 1887, and hog, chicken and dairy farms began to make up the largest portion of the local economy. The family-oriented nature of the area remained long into the 19th century. It wasn't until West Coast Trident Submarine Base was erected that big-name industry began to move into the area. Nature lovers can still find respites of quiet within this growing city, though suburbanites will appreciate its many conveniences.
