Overview of Burlington
Located about 40 miles southwest of Milwaukee and 80 miles northwest of Chicago, the small town of Burlington, WI is an ideal place to call home. Although it is located between two large urban centers, the southeastern corner of Wisconsin is home to numerous small towns that embody family-friendly living, natural beauty, and a peaceful way of life. Burlington is home to more than 10,000 people, and is known regionally for its historic downtown, thriving dining scene, Nestle chocolate factory and numerous locally owned businesses. Those searching for Burlington apartments for rent will be pleased to discover this gem tucked between the Chicago and Milwaukee metropolitan areas.
Living in Burlington, WI
Burlington is located at the junction of the White and Fox rivers. The first land claim in the region was made in 1835 when Moses Smith and William Whiting decided to settle in what is now downtown Burlington. Although the town was originally called Foxville, the name was changed to Burlington in 1839.
Today, Burlington offers a variety of amenities that are difficult to find in true small towns. Two business parks, a historic and thriving downtown scene, proximity to four regional highways and an excellent public school system make Burlington a great place to live. Burlington's 28 city parks include about 215 acres of open space, sports facilities, playgrounds and picnic areas. Bear Meadows, Devor, Bushnell, Benson, Festival, Grove Street, Riverfront and Nestle parks all provide ideal areas for families to get together, play and meet new friends.
Burlington Attractions and Special Events
Burlington's most beloved attraction by far is the Nestle chocolate factory. When searching for apartments in Burlington, take a drive through the city's downtown, roll down your windows and breathe. Your nose will immediately be filled with the scent of delicious, mouth-watering chocolate. Residents from nearby small towns flock to the city's Chocolate Experience Museum, but Burlington's annual Chocolate Fest takes the cake for area attractions. This yearly festival boasts a carnival, gargantuan levels of chocolate consumption, sweet treats, games, family-friendly fun and a variety of vendors and crafts.
