Located in northern Wisconsin, Marshfield is a great place to live with a plush green landscape and friendly residents. Ranked as the eighth best “Dream City” in America by Demographics Daily, Marshfield embodies the small-town character that the Midwest is known for. Less than 20,000 people live here, allowing Marshfield to foster a close-knit environment with many residents whose families have lived in town for generations. Look for Marshfield apartments for rent, and find one of Wisconsin’s most relaxed communities.

Living in Marshfield, WI

Named after John Marsh, one of the town’s original proprietors, Marshfield was organized by the state of Wisconsin in 1865 to improve navigation between Green Bay and the Mississippi River. When St. Joseph's Hospital was established in 1890, Marshfield became an important regional medical center with the largest health care provider in northern Wisconsin.

Today, Marshfield residents celebrate the German heritage of the first settlers. Marshfield was voted the eighth Best Place to Live in America by Bizjournals.com, which is a testament to the area’s exceptional education and business opportunities, health care, low cost of living, and stress-free lifestyle. The Sustainable Marshfield Committee was created to help the city integrate greener living practices, and in less than a decade has already helped make the community more sustainable.
