Florida is well on its way to craft-beer-capital status, if it’s not there already. And while Tampa made the first big splash, Orlando breweries are right on its heels. No matter which part of Orlando you live in, there’s likely at least one brewery within walking distance, or a 5-minute drive tops! There are also community events all around the metro that bring residents together over their love of all things hoppy and malty.

Here are a few breweries you might want to check out while apartment hunting. Any one of them could become your new, favorite local hang, inspiring you to rent nearby.

Orlando Brewing

This tried-and-true city favorite was the granddaddy of them all. In operation since 2000, this downtown site was the first of all the breweries in Orlando. Its policy of brewing with only the freshest ingredients is so solid, their beer is certified organic. You can find their beers in more than 500 locations around the state, but they’re best enjoyed in the tap room or al fresco.
Orlando Brewing also plans wonderful events all the time, including yoga and others which are dog-friendly. Residents in apartments such as the Lofts at SoDo can drive there in less than five minutes or enjoy a lovely 20-minute stroll to and from.

Bowigens Beer Company

This relative newcomer opened its doors in Casselberry in 2015 and has made a huge splash among Orlando, FL breweries ever since. In fact, 2016 saw Bowigens winning the one of the hottest new beer events on the Florida circuit – the Smash Beer Festival – and early 2017 saw them garnering a gold medal at the Florida Beer Championship.

Their tap room has 10 taps and over 20 different bottles of meads, beers and ciders. Stop by for a trivia night. And if you lived at IMT Newport Colony – you could even forgo Uber and walk to Bowigens Beer Company, in about 10 minutes!

Red Cypress Brewery

Seminole County is known for its great schools and, increasingly, its great Orlando breweries. Red Cypress is the lone option in lovely Winter Springs and it’s got great events all over the calendar. There’s Food Truck Friday (and Orlando has amazing food trucks), Trucks & Trivia (winners get Red Cypress gift cards) and Namaste and Drink, a regular, bi-monthly class that includes one hour of yoga and a beer. Residents at Tuskawilla Park Condos can drive here in less than five minutes.

Hourglass Brewery

Breweries in Orlando are social places, and this Longwood tavern is a genuine favorite, with a tap room that’s always fun and very often full! Bring in food from local purveyors to enjoy alongside amazing artisan brews like their Honeybell Wit (made with Florida oranges) or Morlock Milk Stout (incredibly choco-creamy).
There are some really nice apartments in this part of town. Residents at Weston Park at Longwood Station, for example, can drive here in three minutes or walk in less than 15!

Sanford Brewing

Sanford, a charming town in the northeast Orlando metro, has declared they’re going after the Florida craft brew capital title. As such, Sanford Brewing is just one of a bunch of breweries – most within walking distance of one another – that include places like Wops Hops and Celery City Craft.
What’s more, the entire area buzzes with bars, restaurants, shops and regular events, such as local art walks and farmer’s markets. Rent a place at Westlake Apartment Homes and you could be a regular at all these places with a quick 10-minute drive.
