10. Bellevue, Washington
Whether you’re zip lining through the treetops or exploring an art gallery, Bellevue has something for everyone. Literally meaning “beautiful view” in French, Bellevue is Seattle’s largest suburb and home to many Microsoft employees because of its proximity to Redmond.
Once you and your significant other have covered the miles of nature trails and numerous museums, you can take a trip to Woodinville’s Wine Country, home to more than 100 wineries. This uniquely Northwest city is a great place for couples.
9. San Mateo, California
One of the larger, more well-developed suburbs outside of San Francisco, San Mateo is a great place for couples to call home. The downtown area has more than 800 shops and restaurants so there is always something to explore, while Central Park has everything a person could ever want in an outdoor space—there’s even a Japanese Tea Garden! Poised right near Silicon Valley, the city also prides itself on its sustainability efforts and is a perfect way to make your friends and family green with envy.
8. Irvine, California
A city whose mission is to literally create an environment that is safe, vibrant and aesthetically pleasing, Irvine is home to a strong public school system, beautiful weather and of course, plenty of couples. Irvine has countless community and neighborhood parks, more than 200 miles of bike lanes and is often the location for Hollywood movies.
7. Troy, Michigan
One of the most dynamic and livable cities in Michigan, Troy is great for couples because of its excellent public services and safety. Great for a couple looking to start a family, Troy is known for its A+ rated school systems and family-friendly character. Whether you’re looking for world-class shopping and dining, interested in exploring the 900 acres of parkland, or heading into Detroit, Troy has everything couples could ever want.
6. Sunnyvale, California
Sunnyvale, one of the major cities that make up Silicon Valley, is home to many high-tech companies, including Lockheed Martin and Yahoo! Consistently one of the safest cities in the country, Sunnyvale is home to the largest community-based farm in Silicon Valley—the 11 acres Full Circle Farm. Countless bike lanes make for great weekend exploring with your significant other, while the variety of dining options means you’ll never be left saying, “Thai again?”
