        I have been a resident since January. I only have the apartment to stay in Claremont occasionally as I'm retired and have a home elsewhere. I went to see my grandchildren in Chicago, gone for 11 days. When I returned my car was gone. I found out, after speaking with the police department, that my car was towed due to not having a parking permit displayed in my window. I went to the tow yard and had to pay a $661 fee to get my car out that had been there for 5 days. Since the parking permit did not fit over my rear view mirror I attached it to the window of the car with Velcro. The Velcro came off the window leaving the permit on the floor of the car making the permit not visible. I understood that this could happen if a permit was not displayed but it was not my fault the card did not fit over the mirror. In any event, I lodged a complaint with the property management stating that this was a very heavy handed approach to controlling the parking. I suggested they call the owners of the vehicles to notify them about the parking permit rather than towing the vehicles. Had I been gone for longer they could have sold my car. This is bad enough but then they have a similar heavy handed approach to collecting the rent. They essentially want everyone to use their website to pay the rent. I prefer to automatically pay through my banking website and I have the bank send the check 2 weeks early. When I went on another trip I received an e-mail that I owed rent for the month. If they don't get the check on time tenants are required to then submit checks from the bank on the 1st of every month without any period of grace. I spoke with the ladies at the property and informed them they received the check for the month at least a week earlier. That ended that episode as they found I had paid the rent, but I'm still out the $661 for the car being impounded. I never expected to get the money back, but I would have liked an apology. I'm leaving soon.

        Okay, these guys will tow your car in a second. Walked out to take my young daughter to school and the car was gone. I'd forgotten to move the car into my garage the night before! You can't park in uncovered spots overnight. You can't park on the street. Popular? You want overnight guests? Nope. Worse than living with your parents. I did get to know that maintenance staff well because I needed to call multiple times when I first got there because my toilet was defective. I have to believe there are better places to live. This is the last straw. I will be looking for a place where I can walk outside and expect my car will still be there. Crying.
