Located in eastern Los Angeles near the Pomona and Orange freeway junction, the city of Diamond Bar is attracting plenty of attention in the state of California. Diverse, unique and full of culture, many Californians are giving Diamond Bar apartments for rent a second look. With its quality schools, low crime rates, great quality of life and higher-than-average family income, according to City-Data, it makes sense that this charming community has become one of the most sought-after areas in the Golden State. According to data from the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau, the population in Diamond Bar has grown in recent years, topping 55,500 residents.
Similar to many other cities in the Los Angeles area, the history of Diamond Bar began with a Mexican land grant in the early 1800s. From then until the 1950s, the area was owned by many wealthy ranchers who cultivated the land, peppered the area with beautiful walnut trees and raised many herds of cattle. It wasn't until the mid-20th century that the Transamerica Corporation began to develop the area into a residential community outside of Los Angeles that would one day become one of Southern California's most prized communities. Today, the area has received numerous awards, including being one of the only five California cities to be named CNN's Money Magazine's 2012 "Best Places to Live" and one of Businessweek's "Top 50 Places to Raise Your Kids."
Diamond Bar is home to many special events, including a Winter Snow Fest, Fall Fun Festival, Summer Movies in the Park, a Holiday Home Decorating Contest and a birthday party in honor of Diamond Lake's incorporation every year. Perhaps the best-known and most exciting event that gives local residents a lot of pride is the Diamond Bar Day at the Los Angeles County Fair that showcases to the entire county the wonderful spirit of this tight-knit community.
