Overview of Lodi

Located in the heart of California's Central Valley, Lodi is one of the most pleasant communities in the Golden State. Home to a bustling wine production hub and thriving historical downtown district, it is no surprise that many Californians are snatching up fantastic Lodi apartments for rent.

With plenty of success in agribusiness, plastics production and manufacturing, this is a truly diverse community with an abundance of local restaurants, coffee shops, local farmers markets, and wine-tasting rooms. With a population of more than 63,000 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, you will feel right at home in the "Winegrape Capital of the World."

Living in Lodi, CA

Lodi was founded in 1869 after homesteaders and business entrepreneurs were drawn to the economic opportunities in the expanding western states like California. Lodi has always had an agricultural past, getting its start in watermelon and wheat harvests during its beginning years. By the end of the 19th century, Lodi spearheaded the winemaking industry that has now made California famous with nearly 2.35 million grapevines.

Despite Congress enacting Prohibition and numerous floods that plagued the area, the wine industry continued to thrive, and Lodi began to climb steadily in population. After an Amtrak station was secured in Lodi, many visitors began flocking to the community due to its reputation for beautiful scenery and delicious red zinfandel.

Lodi Attractions and Special Events

Since Lodi is known as the heart of California's premium wine business, the biggest attraction in the area is the more than 90,000 acres of vineyards that surround the community. With its warm climate during the day and cool breezes at night, this is the perfect place for you to sip, sniff, and swirl some of the best wines in the world.

The city has invested more than $25 million to revitalize its downtown area, and the results have been wonderful for local residents. Because of these investments, the semi-annual Lodi Street Fair that shows off the food, wine, and beer grown and made in the region attracts more than 30,000 shoppers to the area each year.
