Overview of Marina

Located about one hour south of San Jose, Marina, Calif., is a beautiful northern California seaside town. The city is home to approximately 20,000 people and continues to grow. This is a great community for families, with nearly a quarter of Marina's residents under the age of 18. With only about 40 percent of residents owning their home, there are also plenty of Marina apartments for rent.

Living in Marina, CA

Marina was first established in the 1860s, and was originally made up of about 9,000 acres owned by David Jacks and James Bardin. This land was sold throughout the 1880s, and by 1913, the area was designated on a map for the first time.

Marina residents today enjoy being in close proximity to a wide variety of employers, including harvester Azcona Harvesting, book publisher McGraw-Hill, and the agricultural endeavors of Monterey Mushrooms, Inc. Locals looking to further their education may be interested in the opportunities available at Monterey Peninsula College or the Naval Postgraduate School.
