Overview of East Village

Since the beginning of the 1990s, the former warehouse district now known as the East Village has been transformed into a popular work-live-play neighborhood that draws residents from surrounding areas. As a result, the 130-block East Village is one of San Diego’s largest and fastest growing communities. Urban renewal projects, such as the new Central Library designed by Rob Quigley along with new office and retail space, have replaced vacant lots and dive-bars to create a vibrant cultural atmosphere that appeals to young families and urban professionals looking to rent an apartment in a vibrant, hip area of San Diego.
