Palm City is a neighborhood located in the southern section of San Diego, California. The community serves as a gateway to the popular beach areas of Coronado and Imperial Beach. Although Palm City was established in 1914, the area was originally part of Rancho La Punta before the Mexican-American War. In 1926, the neighborhood had a population of only 250 residents, later growing to 720 residents by 1942. Palm City contains multiple landmarks dedicated to John J. Montgomery, an American aviation pioneer, including several at the local Silverwing Park.
