Overview of San Jacinto
Located in the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains in Riverside County, the city of San Jacinto is one of southern California's oldest and most eclectic communities. San Jacinto was officially founded in 1870, and incorporated in 1888 after California was granted statehood. By this time, the local economy had shifted from cattle ranching to growing grain, apricots, walnuts and citrus fruits. Before World War I, the community was largely a farming area, yet the beauty of the area soon made the valley a hot spot for tourism.
When the natural hot springs in the north side of the valley were discovered, the Los Angeles elite began building tourist resorts and bath houses so that they could take in the so-called healing waters. Today, the community has a growing business community that takes pride on its storied past, but looks forward to a bright future.
San Jacinto Work and Study
Although San Jacinto still has a solid base in agriculture, there is a growing diverse business base that includes both manufacturing and non-manufacturing jobs. According to the city's website, the largest private employers include Steel Weld, Skyline Corporation and Agri-Empire. Several manufacturing products that are made in the area include electronic components, mobile homes and assembly parts production. Finding San Jacinto rentals near Interstate 10 might be your best bet for having easy access to and from work if you are commuting.
Many residents from all walks of life go to nearby Mt. San Jacinto College, a two-year institution that prides itself on being active in the community.
