Overview of Valley Village

Valley Village is a thriving community located within Los Angeles, California. This neighborhood has deep roots, and new residents flock here to enjoy one of LA's most desirable areas.

Valley Village apartments for rent can be found within the community, and renters will enjoy the neighborhood's great location, transportation options and the proximity to downtown LA.

Living in Valley Village, CA

The area that is now LA was originally inhabited by Native Americans, such as the Tataviam and Tongva tribes. Explorers from Spain and Portugal arrived throughout the 1600s and 1700s, but the first Spanish settlement was established in 1769, and the area was called Rio de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula. This name would later be shortened to Los Angeles.

The city retained a small population until the 1840s. After that time, the gold rush caused settlers to flock to California to seek their fortunes. Not long after this, Mexico ceded California to the United States, and California quickly became a state.

After Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality in 1850, the city began to see many new improvement projects. Streetcars, town squares, streetlights, railroad lines and local trolleys all encouraged more residents to come to the area and enjoy everything LA had to offer. Aside from attracting settlers of European descent, it attracted African Americans, Japanese immigrants and many other ethnic groups. The city retains much of this diversity today.

The Valley Village community was officially formed in 1939. The neighborhood is bordered by the Tujunga Wash, the Ventura Freeway, the Hollywood Freeway and Burbank Boulevard. It has grown into a thriving and unique residential area within the city limits. With a population of about 22,000 residents, Valley Village is a bustling community that has successfully retained its own identity while successfully integrating into Los Angeles.

Valley Village Work and Study

Valley Village is a great location for students who wish to attend college in LA. Los Angeles Valley College is a nearby two-year institution that allows students to earn credits to transfer to a four-year university, earn an associate degree or obtain a professional certificate. The school is in the ideal location to serve Valley Village residents, and pupils can choose from more than 140 different academic programs.

Those seeking a four-year university may want to consider applying to UCLA. The nationally ranked school has been a part of the city for nearly 100 years and is an important research institution. With more than 100 different majors, a medical program and more than 5,000 different course options, every student will find something to suit their unique interests at UCLA.

There are plenty of employment opportunities in the city, and many large companies have offices in LA. It's easy to get to downtown LA from Valley Village, which is a prime location for job opportunities. Some of the largest employers in the downtown LA area are Southern California Gas Company, Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance, the Capital Group and AT&T.

Los Angeles is not known for its affordability, and those considering a move to Valley Village may consider that when relocating.
