I recently moved out from Canyon Chase Apartments and to my surprised received an invoice in the mail. I certainly wasn't expecting my full deposit returned but to receive an actual invoice. Granted it was mostly for cleaning, some scuff marks on the walls left from moving out, fireplace soot and the stove (which I totally forgot about in my haste to move) but the invoice also included a fee for pet damage. How is it possible when I never had a pet. Didn't have one before I moved-in, didn't have one while I lived there nor do I have one now. I explained that I didn't have a pet and do not know how its possible for there to be damage unless it's from the prior tenant. Which it had to be and would also mean that the carpet was not replaced before I moved in. So I'm now being charged for damage fees caused by the prior tenant cat or dog. Not just that but I'm willing to bet they charged the previous tenant for those same damages. The office staff sent me a pic of a blue light showing the pet urine stains but how would I have known those damages existed upon my moving in unless I had a blue light of my own to inspect. So is this a scam, a way to not return any of the tenants deposit along with cheating them out of 100's of dollars more upon threat of reporting the charge to the credit bureaus? I paid my rent on time monthly for 13/14 months. I didn't damage their property, I was not a nuisance to my neighbors and this is how they treat you once you've made the decision to move on. I promise for every individual that ask my recommendation of a place to live I will be sure to tell them to avoid renting from Milestone Management properties. I will never make the mistake again myself. So if you are reading this, and a current resident, I would suggest that you have them come over to your place with their blue light to inspect right now as you will be responsible for the previous tenants damage.
