Living in Lebanon, IN

Officially established in 1830, Lebanon is a true historic Indiana town. The city was founded by General James Perry Drake and Colonel George L. Kinnard, who were both developers, Indiana militia men, and visionaries for the local community. The two purchased a variety of land tracts throughout the area and began to develop it as a town. Lebanon developed around the mens' planned areas and eventually became the seat of Boone County.

Lebanon has a fun and dynamic system of parks and recreation facilities. Residents enjoy a variety of activities and events through the parks and recreation department, such as an annual Easter egg hunt or swimming lessons. For fitness and sports, residents frequent Memorial Park, which boasts an aquatic center, tennis and basketball courts, sand volleyball facilities, a lighted baseball complex, playgrounds, a log cabin that can be reserved, picnic space, and a bandstand. Abner Longley Park offers similar facilities with the addition of football and soccer fields. Both of the city's parks boast nature trails for walkers and hikers. Other parks include James Hill, The Hot Pond, and Rolling Meadow parks.
