Spruce Pointe Apartments

Be prepared to pay. So many rules they have here of the things you are not allowed to do, you get a feeling it's a student dormitory rather than an apartment complex to make a home. You better not be a smoker, because there is only one designated area to smoke at and they will fine you a $100,- dollar fee for lighting a cigarette in a parking lot before you made it to the designated area(for your guests too). With cameras on every corner it doesn't feel like you have much privacy. If you are ever even a day to turn in the proof of the renters insurance, which is required here, you'll be paying a $75,- dollar fine and they will not negotiate with you. Of course, might be more by now! And the things like that just go on. It used to be one of the better places in Altoona, we had lived here for quite a while, but in the last two to three years it has changed so much for the worse. Once we moved out got charged a couple of mysterious fees that they never explained, besides being a repair fee and a late fee and we could not figure out what it was since the apartment was in a great shape, and everything was paid up and on time. They took it out of security deposit, which also took them more than 30 days to return. Hmm... that'd be a late fee! Almost went to small claims court for that, since all that the management cares for is your money. Spruce Pointe, Oakland Pointe and Altoona Towers are run by the same people.

Resident quality has gone down some. Forced ISP and Cable was frustrating due to existing lines from another ISP are available. A choice would have been nice. Otherwise all is well.

There have been some issues in the apartment such as hot water pressure not being high enough, the fan in the bathroom stays on for awhile after the switch is down, and there seems to be an untimely response to fix those issues or answer questions. However, everything else in the apartment seems great, and the maintenance staff has been most helpful.

The office staff if most unhelpful. If I place request for work order, at times I have to call 4, 5 times for the same problem. There is no gym, swimming pool etc.

I thought the apartment had alot of room. It seemed to be pretty up to date for majority of the appliances and what not. I appreciate the direct TV and wifi those were great bonuses. I however was very upset when we first moved in on how messy and dirty the apartment was. It was cleaned up in a good time though.

The apartment complex is well maintained. It is very clean and problems are fixed in a timely manner. It is better than any other apartment complexes in town
