Living in Elizabethown
Elizabethtown, KY, was established in 1797 and was named for the wife of Colonel Hynes, founder of the historically rich city. Ancestors of Abraham Lincoln were part of the original inhabitants of the area, and General Custer and his wife called the area home. The city was attacked by Confederate soldiers who took it over in 1862, causing problems for transportation between the north and the south.
Currently, Elizabethtown is home to more than 29,000 people and over 100 churches. The Transit Authority runs public buses in the community, and there is a Greyhound station for longer trips.
