Living in Davison, MI
In 1802, the county of Genesee was formed from part of Ontario. Named after the beautiful valley between Lake Seneca and Lake Erie, the land originally comprised all of the state west of the Genesee River. Since then, eight counties have been organized from the land, but Genesee County still covers 507 square miles. On the southern portion of the county, sloping hills were covered in dense forests, which made way for timbering operations.
There were few settlers in the county until after the Revolution because many individuals were afraid of the Indians in the area. After the Holland Company moved into the area, many other settlers followed suit. In October 1800, the company opened an office, but it was later moved to Batavia two years after.
Today the community continues to grow and prosper as other businesses, families and individuals move into Davison.
