Fernwood Apartments

I moved in to Fernwood Manor a little over half a year ago now, and I must say, I absolutely love it(!) The apartment itself is wonderful, spacious yet cozy, with a great 'retro aesthetic', (which I adore:) I was a bit apprehensive moving into my first place, being an apartment, but the experience has exceeded my expectations for sure! My neighbors (many long term, OG tenants;) have all been *amazing*, and it really feels like a community here. And with the extremely close proximity to 9 Mile, & really *all* of Fabulous Ferndale (biking, or walking even:), the value is pretty unbeatable, *highly recommend* (!)

Absolutely love Fernwood! It is a fine place to call home, and I look forward to time spent in my cozy apartment;) (As an added bonus, manager is wonderful too!)

Since moving in to Fernwood Manor I've loved it. I agree with other reviews about many of the pros and the cons. Pros, the residents are lovely (I often see the same faces by the door when I come home from work, exchange polite hellos and folks hold the door open), the closet space is fantastic (big enough to turn into a small office!), windows are huge, and the manager Al is wonderful. Cons, the walls ARE very thin. I have heard my downstairs neighbor's television, music, and verbal conflicts through the walls. I don't particularly mind, but I know others might. The area is also very nice. It was important to me to find a neighborhood I could walk in, whether you want a quiet residential stroll or a visit to the shops you certainly can here with 9mile and woodward just a stone's throw away.

I just moved into this apartment so far I love it its a really nice one bedroom place to live in everyone is friendly and was super easy to move in to

Walls are terribly thin, I can hear my neighbors entire conversation while theyre speaking to each other in a regular tone of voice, while Im in my bedroom trying to sleep. The building needs to be updated

Pros: Cant beat the closet space, Great locationCons: Management is pretty terrible. They leave passive aggressive notes to residents regularly. Management is not on site. Walls are super thin so you can hear everything everyone does. Quality of residents has dropped. People are loud, fight (verbal and physical), steal, vandalize each others property leave trash in common areas. The apartments are outdated. Maintenance is pretty shoddy. They are constantly evicting people. They leave the notice of eviction on the front door so everyone sees. Luckily I havent received an eviction notice, but I always feel bad. Its humiliating. Ive been here for quite a few years, multiple apartment managers, and numerous residents.
