Grand Oaks Apartments

I praying for a place of my own here in Michigan living with family and taking care of family that bites your hand of love is not what we bargain for

I've been here nearly 8 yrs. No problems with maintance coming to fix things when they are notified, the maintance staff are professional and the women in the office are the sweetest. Unfortunately I am moving out of state very soon. Otherwords I would remain here.

I highly recommend staying far away from this place for a couple reasons. First everything is constantly breaking and it takes forever to get someone out to fix it, When they do fix it, it is a temporary solution and breaks again. My basement leaked when it would rain and after telling the office every month for 1.5 years they finally sent someone to fix it. The solution was drilling a hole through the concrete and laying brink around the hole. It looked terrible and took up a 3'x3' area in my basement.Also when you move out they will find anyway to keep you deposits and also try to bill you for extra repairs.when I moved out they kept my security deposit, 200$ pet deposit and 260$ I had credited on my account and still sent my an additional bill. I was told that all the carpet in my house needed to be replaced. I asked why because the carpet wasn't in bad condition. I was told that there were a few pet stains in the living room. I stated, "okay, my dog did have some accidents in the living room but why do I need to pay to get new carpet in the two upstairs bedroom, hallway and stairs." I was told that there was one pet stain in one of the bedrooms upstairs. I asked, "shouldn't my security deposit, pet deposit and the 260$ on my account be enough?" I was told that the deposits do not cover damage. I worked for a carpet cleaning company while going to school for 4 years and I know none of these stains were permanent. I asked them about just getting it cleaned and was told that the company they use to clean carpets said they couldn't restore the carpet which is ridiculous because they didn't even try to clean the carpet. I know of similar instances of this happening so I am not the only one. I know 2 people that had similar experiences upon moving out except it was because of pet stains.STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU PLAN ON STAYING HERE FOREVER!!

The apartments are in good shape. Maintenance comes in a timely manner, although Ive only had to call them twice for minor issues. The office staff seem understanding and courteous. They try to control the amount of droppings left on the ground from dog owners, although a few people slip by without picking it up. I had mail taken from my doorstep, no doubt kids of the neighborhood...but the office informed the postal service of the problem and they no longer leave the packages out in the open.

The basement constantly leaked in all of the apartments of my building, we all complained multiple times and the issue was not fixed. I was constantly harassed about my dog having left waste on the lawn when we cleaned up after him and there were 3 other dog owners in the area. Had to pay $200 for "carpet replacement" when I moved out but no one could tell me why it had to be replaced.

Grand Oaks Apartments has been a wonderful place to call home for the three years I've lived there. The Maintenance team was always prompt and worthy of praise. Also, the convenience of having a washer and dryer in the unit was an incredible asset as a tenant.
