Upon moving in our carpet smelled strongly of cigarettes, the front door and windows were not insulated at all Read More, and we couldn't keep our front door closed unless we leaned against it to lock it. No matter how much we washed the carpets or sprayed them with Febreze or similar products, we were constantly overwhelmed by the smell of cigarettes. I had to hold my breath every time I opened the closet in the "dining room" because it was so strong. It even made our clothes smell just by sitting in the closets! The front door was anything but soundproof. Also, you could clearly tell which blinds were replaced upon move in versus the ones they were too lazy and cheap to replace. They were all different lengths and the old ones were yellowed from cigarette smoke I'm guessing. If you make a maintenance request, they don't tell you an approximate time or even a day when they are coming. Whatever, fine. What isn't fine is when you don't answer the door for whatever reason, they just walk right in! That happened twice while I was home. The first time I didn't answer because I was on a very important phone call, the second was because I was in the shower. We had maintenance come to fix some loose boards on our deck. They fixed one board and left screws all over the deck which I had the pleasure of stepping on. Maintenance often never even showed up. Then whenever they did "fix" something, they did it wrong and my husband had to fix it himself. For how much we were charged in rent a month for this dump, we should have at least had good maintenance work done. Then, to top all of that off, they had the nerve to charge us $238 plus our $300 security deposit to replace the carpet of the entire apartment due to one corner of pet stains. However, we had a dresser in the corner of that room the entire time that we lived there.

Perry Place is located right in Grand Blanc, which is a wonderful city, close to the schools and city events, Read Moreand a quick drive to the hospital or highway. However, that is where the good ends with Perry Place. Living in our building was rough. The middle floor neighbor would consistently sing at the top of her lungs. The Perry Place staff said that the walls are insulated well from sounds, so we can barely hear other tenants. That is not true. You will hear anyone who speaks above normal conversation tone. The downstairs neighbors were constantly smoking and those smells seep right into the vents, into our apartment. As we were in the middle level, it would linger there for hours. The Perry Place staff is one of the most nice and also most dismissive group of people I have ever dealt with. Minus their best employee, Mallory, every other employee or manager would promise fixes or help, but nothing happened. For two years, we complained about a broken dishwasher. Every time we called, we were told that someone would come and fix it. They would never show. When they did, they said it worked fine. They finally decided to replace it..with a used one from another apartment. Our final walkthrough was on March 23. We had a meeting at 2:00 to walk with management, which they never showed up to. We waited until 2:20 when I called and they "had an emergency come up and the meeting had to be cancelled". Had I not called them, I would have never known. They never attempted to call and reschedule. They will charge you for anything, even if they are incorrect. We got fined $50 for being too loud WHILE MOVING out. We only moved during the day, completely within our lease terms, but because multiple people complained, they didn't care and charged us automatically.

You get what you pay for, low rent = low standards. We constantly had problems with neighbors and always got t Read Morehe same response from the management company either "we will write them a letter" or "we will have a meeting with them". Even after police intervention we have consistent problems, there is a general feeling of disrespect!
