    Giving this apartment community 1 star is too much. The water is an ongoing issue at Portsmouth. I wish I would have looked further into the reviews before moving here. After researching, I discovered that brown water and water shut offs has been a theme for this community since 2014-2015.The water is shut off very frequently. If not once a month then every other month. The property manager compared her a/c issues with her home to the water issues with the apartment community. Correct me if I'm wrong but a/c doesn't make a home uninhabitable. Having no water does. There are multiple notices sent out about the water. Multiple "emergent" water issues. I had an incident where I was in the shower and the water turned brown. The only thing I was offered was an apology. I do not recommend this apartment community to anyone. I'm sure there's some truth to all the negative reviews. I strongly suggest reading the bad reviews to every community before deciding which community to call home.

    Hate to give a bad review because the apartments are nice, maintenance was reasonably quick and easy, and the office staff is friendly and helpful. But my experience I think gives you an idea of what the culture of Edward Rose currently is.After 18 months of paying rent on time, I missed one month due to a mistake with my autopay (an end date was set in err). Before I even realized what had happened, they had already filed court documents to start the eviction process. No phone call, no email. Just an inconspicuous 7-day notice in the mail which could easily be thrown away or, in my case, not seen until returning from out of town.I promptly paid the rent that was missed and had the court case dismissed, but they forced me to pay the extra $146 that it cost THEM to file in court. So how does a company immediately jump to the conclusion that someone is a criminal after an honest mistake? It's simple, you look at them as a number instead of a human being. These apartments are in high enough demand that you as a tenant are disposable and they can get away with stuff like this.Again the people on-site at Portsmouth are lovely and do a good job. But I won't rent from Edward Rose again.

    They rented me a cancer pit. It's coated with nicotine residue, Lord Knows what they painted over and is building up in the vents. I was denied a walk thru and didn't see it outright (see pics on Yelp). It took me a few breaths to identify the stale Hazardous odor that makes me ill. Cigarette stench. So, now I'm to get sick for these corporate Meffers to make money. No one should live in that apartment or Building 21. Don't move here.

    Friendly staff, washer/dryers and dishwashers in apartment. Pets are allowed. Great walking areas within complex. I feel perfectly safe even at night when walking the dog.

    Pros: Clean and safe area, ponds are gorgeous, options for full laundry/dishwasher and gas/water, open kitchen/living room layout, carport options Cons: Rent has jumped up over $200 in roughly 4 years, maintenance commonly fixes issues in a poor way, well water is very commonly discolored and has damaged clothing and dishware
