The leasing staff NEVER answers they phone. They also ignore emails and rarely ever return messages. They ignore maintenance requests that have been submitted repeatedly.
They have been inconsistent in the past about collecting proof of renters insurance, and for some reason their chosen method of fixing their own bad record keeping is call residents threatening them with "being found in violation of their lease" if they don't immediately provide proof of insurance.
The leasing office staff is replaced every 6-8 months, and every new property managed inevitably contacts DTE about doing energy-efficient upgrades. This is really annoying because it was done before I moved in and at least three times since then. In each case, DTE is providing the EXACT same upgrades, so they basically walk from apartment to apartment verifying that they've already done this stupid song-and-dance. I've tried protesting this with the office staff because they've already done it, and they insist it's never been done before. They also lie and claim that maintenance will be with DTE while doing this, but maintenance merely unlocks your door and lets the DTE people in.
They offer a referral bonus, but I was required to argue for and document my own referral in order to get the bonus. Another resident received a special move-in credit that was never properly recorded, causing the leasing office to then call and demand the missing money. The resident was again left with the burden to prove that they were paid up.
This is a beautiful property, but it has the rudest, most intrusive, and least competent leasing staff that I have ever encountered in my life.
