Staff are friendly & helpful, bringing deliveries to my apartment when I can't get them due to my work hours. It is quiet, I rarely hear others when in my apartment. I feel safe here. People are friendly. As an example, on Thanksgiving morning I was up early and we were not going out. I went downstairs by the fireplace and ended up visiting with about four other people as they came and went - sharing the newspaper and each others company. A staff person even made coffee in the common room.

This is a beautiful building with beautiful people in management and as residents. I felt at home the moment I walked into my apartment. It is always clean and the common areas are well maintained. I love the indoor parking. I enjoy the activities that are provided for the residents and I enjoy daily coffee in the community room with friends.

Satisfaction was great in beginning. Losing original maintenance person huge loss. Not getting attention as they were 3 mos ago. Bulletin to every resident on 2nd & 3rd floors to be considerate of residents below them. This has been awful! I know if I say anything to persons upstairs they will likely agitate me & make things worse. A barking dog allowed to be tied up & let bark all day long. Resident forced to move cuz kitchen flood problem ignored. Rent will go up Im sure, things are worse.

There apartment was beautiful, but the heat control for younger renters was very unfortunate. Our apartment was 80-85 degrees in the winter. Opening our window allowed cigarette smoke to come on. There was no solution for the heat, so we moved out.

Rent increases have significantly changed the demographics of this complex, new residents are louder and significantly less considerate than those they replaced. The building itself is well maintained but somewhat old and tired. There are very few amenities and those have seen no upgrades. The building is due for significant improvements given it's age, however so far there are only rent increases. New apartments planned or under construction make Birchwood a very marginal choice.
