Old Monterey uses its pristine grounds as an evasive technique to get potential renters to believe that they c Read Moreare as much about their apartment units as they do their grounds. The units are old and in desperate need of an overhaul. The windows are not energy efficient, and the seals on them are broken - so in the winter you have to set your thermostat high so you dont freeze. Old Monterey does pay the gas (probably because of this issue), but you still have to pay the electricity bill for the blower running that much. The same is true for the summer when it is hot. The screens have holes in them, and they do not fit securely in the frame so bugs would get into my apartment anytime I tried to get some fresh air. I keep an incredibly clean apartment, but no matter what, I would always find cockroaches running around in the kitchen up behind cabinets because these units are infested. The maintenance crew are all VERY nice and in general, responsive to work orders however, they do not staff enough people to take care of all the issues that result from old/improperly maintained units. Depending on how important your issue is and how busy they are you may wait over a month for a resolution and be prepared to clean up after them. The internet/cable company that Old Monterey is in bed with is laughable. Bloom broadbands prices are through the roof for the service they provide, and their customer service is deplorable. Every year they increase the price, but they do not upgrade the service. Every neighbor I ever spoke with had the same complaint, and reading through the online reviews it seems to be a recurring theme. However, Old Monterey does nothing about it they say they do this as a convenience to their tenants, but how is it a convenience when they [residents] are not getting what they pay for? They apologize and say we will look into it, but they have no intentions to resolve the issue.

If you don't have any rental history, this is a good place to start. Otherwise, neighbors are questionable at Read Moretimes. Pool is pristine, but bug problems are constant and security is an issue. Had my car broken into a few times. Overall a lot of millenials who like to party.
