Local Reviews

I like living near a lake and I have a great view of it. I like living where crime isn't a problem. I like living where no one has crazy parties and if they do they invite everyone.

I love that it's older and the streets are lined with trees. There is also a lot of diversity in my neighborhood. Finally, I like that it's safe to go on walks.

I would maybe add a small restaurant closer to our to hood so we don't have to drive across town . I would also Love is a golf course was closer

I enjoy the businesses being close as ever. I enjoy the some what quietness that surrounds me. I enjoy the massage parlor down the street

About

Columbus, NE

Overview of Columbus

With a family-friendly atmosphere and charming all-American downtown, Columbus is creating quite the buzz for many in the Cornhusker State of Nebraska. An ideal location along the Loup River right outside Omaha, excellent school system and community togetherness are all what make Columbus apartments for rent an ideal home for many Nebraska residents. With everything that this wonderful small town has to offer, it should come as no shock that the city has seen a more than 5 percent increase in population from 2000 to 2010, according to City-Data. The cost of living is also remarkably low in this area - more than 20 percent below the nation's average.

Living in Columbus, NE

The idea of this city had its roots in the Buckeye State, not Nebraska. After a the Transcontinental Railroad was built in the mid-1800s, a group of citizens from Columbus, Ohio, had an idea to build a town along the popular route. Soon a new community was formed and was named after their home city. This choice location was also made because of its ideal location near the Loup River, giving Columbus financial growth in transporting goods by rail and ferry. The city has its roots in agriculture and maintains that farming spirit to this day. Through many droughts and dust storms over the years, the tenacity and pioneering spirit of this community is what held the city together and is what Columbus plans to build upon for the future.

Columbus Attractions and Special Events

The city is home to many attractions, including the family-friendly Pawnee Plunge Water Park, the Andrew Jackson Higgins National Memorial that honors our nation's veterans, the 1857 Gottschalk Cabin that traces the city back to its origins, and many hiking, jogging and biking trails for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
