As the last municipality to be carved out of farmland in Warren County, Alpha was incorporated in 1890. Travelers who ventured through the area noticed the high quantity of limestone rock that was prevalent in the area, which, along with the cement industry, generated an economic base for the town.
Today, Alpha is a self-contained community that is both safe and affordable. According to City-Data, the median resident age here is 40, which allows Alpha residents to maintain a sense of community and understanding of the local landscape.
Alpha's geographical location in northwestern New Jersey also puts it in close proximity to New York, Philadelphia and the exceptional services and entertainment opportunities provided by two of the region's largest cities.
Alpha Attractions and Special Events
Delaware Steam Train Excursions are one of the area's finest attractions and give visitors a chance to travel along the Delaware River via New Jersey's only operating steam locomotive rail cars. At different times of the year, attendees can attend the Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt Train, Winery Tour Train and Mine Train excursions for a fun, themed experience.
Residents in Alpha also partake in the New Jersey Festival of Ballooning, Las Fling Pumpkin Sling and other exciting local events.
