When the Central Railroad of New Jersey built a westward track through northern New Jersey in 1852, a station was built outside of Beaver Brook that would become the village of Annandale. The farming community maintained its sleepy demeanor for the next century, until the Round Valley Recreation Area was opened in 1977.
