Carlton Apartment has a rule that they give discounts to NJDOT employees. I became a NJDOT employee since July 2019. When I claimed for my discount, they told me I need to be an employee when I moved in. Manager Stacey told me I could move out if you don't like the process. How rude by a manager herself. Instead, they will charge me 2 months extra as well if I moved out before my lease time. Now, when I am resigning the lease, I claim for my NJDOT discount, and they tell me I had to be an employee when I moved in then. This is not fair at all. When they make the rules, it has to be followed no matter when. They don't inform me that as well. I need to call them time and again. They are totally biased, maybe because of my accent. I moved on 27th December 2018. The people that moved on before and after me got one month off rent. I got $1000 dollars off when I paid that 3-4 days rent extra in December. I could have moved on 1st of month if they informed me. Dona told me that they would replace my old, noisy and worn out AC after I moved in. But, a hectic summer has passed and they have not still changed it. Washers are not working in every complex and people have to go farther searching for just washer and dryers. Very old complex. Spiders web everywhere in windows. Lots of noises from neighborhood and police issues now and then. I could have given 0 stars. Management don't respect the residents. They treat like we are living here for free. Think a lot before you move in.

I had a positive experience here until I had to break my lease, because of unforeseen circumstances. I was coldly told that I had to pay an addition 2 months rent ($3, 090) with no excuses, because that's the policy. This is terrible. Every individual and situation should be taken into account. Where is the concern, compassion, and sensitivity?

Old apartments with a fresh coat of paint, Fancy upgrades on the outside, Poor maintenance staff who do minimal work needed with attitudes, complaints unanswered and not addressed.

If you would like a quiet place to live, this isn't it. There's always some kind of construction going on, nothing gets done about complaints of noisy neighbors. Management is rude and pretty unhelpful. They made useless updates. The price is to high. Don't recommend to anyone.
