      Do not decide on this place! The door person (woman) is very nosy!!!!! She discuss information with other Tenants that she is friendly with. This is the most unprofessionally ran building that I have lived in since my College years in the 90's.

      I recently moved out of The Carlyle to a condo I purchased. If you commute to the UWS of NYC the 175 bus is a block away and goes to the GWB where you can get the A train at 175th St. While there are some opportunities for improvements the Carlyle (tvs not functioning, dated lobby decorator r) I honestly can say this building is very well run. The building manager is professional. Believe me his responsiveness is NOT based on Xmas presents. Hes a nice man as well as a professional. The pool area is a lovely oasis, yes they do try and make the pool area enjoyable for everyone, including those who want a bit of peace and quiet. People who want to be rambunctious or are unaware that it is a community pool with some elderly tenants are respectfully asked to be aware of their neighbors. If you want to throw pool parties buy or rent a house. The super is quite talented in maintaining the aging structure. Newer buildings will get you thinner walls, smaller rooms, al a carte amenities and a view far inferior of those of The Carlyles upper floor east facing apartments. As a single female I never felt unsafe, quite the opposite, doormen answer the phone promptly and the police/EMS are quickly dispatched if necessary. Lastly if you dont want to be gossiped about keep your interactions with the staff minimal and professional as opposed to sharing the intimate details of your life. Its human nature to share interesting tidbits so be aware the front desk staff are not all your new best friends and some are prone to excessive banter. Keep in mind all apartment buildings have pros and cons. I give this building a thumbs up.

      Good price for the amount of spacious rooms you get. However when it comes to overall safety and interior of the parking garage, that would raise a question and concern. The doormen are good however they should look for someone who really needs a job and wants to be here. Hope this helps. Thanks
