Parkstead Watertown at Black River

The buildings are old and in a general state of disrepair, to which the maintenance crew has agreed. We signed a one year lease and received a move-in special. For our lease renewal, our rent was raised back to market rent and were were not allowed to keep it the same, despite the fact that they were half empty at the time and current move-in specials were less than our special even was! Yard cutting is almost always late and snow removal is a joke.

Old apartments, no a.c, horrible window seals, barely enough hot water for a 3 min shower, cars broken into several times, maintenance workers seemed sketchy, drive across town gets really old. Utility bill high do to poor insulation.

I have great neighbors, everyone is friendly at the office, and maintenance is always on time.

My husband and I have been asking management to fix the big potholes in our driveway since we moved in our townhouse in June 2012.

They were really nice about helping out, and if it didn't cost so much to live there and get back and forth to work, we would have stayed there.

Apartments were very drafty. Couldn't keep them heated even with plastic over the windows the gas and electric bill was 250-300 dollars. we kept the heat at 65 degrees. they said they would remove the snow from the driveway and clean the walkways. that didnt happen until around noon. so you have to wake up early to shovel your driveway to get to work. had to pay an extra months rent since they would not accept my deployment orders from my wife who is also in the army.

The garage would flood and the apartments would get cold. The dishwasher would never get dishes cleaned and the stove would sometimes never work and there would be a lot of other problems with the place.

Disgusting people, just give em money, they are unkept, unmaintained property. You will regret living there for years to come. You have been warned, will be taking them to court for fraud!

Awful place. The management never helps you. They charge late fees on rent out of nowhere. Then when you call and ask they laugh and say that’s funny a lot of people have been saying that. It’s so hard to get any help from them. If you are in the military looking for an apartment. I promise there is better.

If I could give 0 stars I would. When we arrived to the unit and opened the garage we realized they were storing bath tubs so we had to call and have them removed before we could move stuff in. No cleaning was done, just removal of the tubs. We found hair ties and burn marks all in the sinks. We just escaped this place after living in 417A for a year too long. Renters beware that all of the apartments in that area have NO peace or quiet. With the school being so close it’s always loud. Management constantly puts notices on your door for random inspections ”per federal regulations” and even request you cage your animals for these periods of times which can be weeks on end that you “give permission to enter”. Maintenance is rude and they are very inexperienced, the head of maintenance is married to the head of parkstead (suprise suprise).. when we came we had noticed the bathroom leaking and black mold behind the tub as well as growing on the walls. There was no proper ventilation so the mold is still building up at this time. When maintenance came they caulked the mold and painted over it !!! Told us to “throw some bleach on it” They would enter the apartment even after being asked multiple times in work orders to not enter unless someone was present. When asked why they enter when asked not too we were told maintenance never actually sees the work orders only the office does. So I wouldn’t waste your time filling out maintenance requests. When we came they had completely different management, seeing now how things are run I can see why they lost the managers. Michelle is the current park manager and she is terrible. She is not willing to accommodate resident requests of basically anything because she isn’t trained properly. She also will send you threatening emails from her home at all hours of the night . She claims the system generates bills that she has no explanation for .She is very unprofessional and should have never been given a management position . If you don’t sleep, don’t work and live on welfare this is the place for you!! Don’t forget they took out all of the playgrounds and the speed bumps will surely mess up your shocks and struts !! But guess who gets stuck with the bill? YOU DO. DO NOT RENT HERE. SAVE YOUR CASH

They can't drive. They speed down the streets between the apartment buildings. Very loud neighborhood

Highly recommended! Nice spacious unit, friendly staffs, quiet neighborhood.stores,school are walking distance.

i would recommend Parkstead to everyone. staff is so polite and helpful. anytime i needed help it had been provided in very short amounts of time. also i love the apartment. very family friendly and peaceful. 10/10

I lived here for almost a year, with my husband and young son, before the army moved us out of state. It was mostly fine- not great, but compared with other townhome complexes in the area, I think it may even be one of the better ones. -Pros: maintenance crew was very responsive, leasing office was very available to clear up any issues and respond to concerns, we enjoyed walking through the neighborhood and it is good proximity to the Square. only about 15 minutes to Drum, a very easy drive. the kitchen was a good size and had plenty of cabinet space, and the bedrooms were nicely sized. snow removal was great in the winter. we cleaned very thoroughly upon move out and had no issues getting our deposit back. also, it is walking distance to the elementary school! -Cons: our carpet smelled like wet dog when we moved in- they did send someone out to shampoo it again (which was great), but it didnt really help much. we just got used to it. the main playground was in pretty bad shape- exposed nails, rotting wood, etc (maybe that has been updated this year, I don't know). sometimes some questionable characters hung out around there. the older windows were very drafty and let in a ton of cold air in Winter. a few of my neighbors had issues with leaks in the ceilings that were not really handled well, but we personally didn't have any problems with that. Overall, we had a decent experience there and would recommend it over many other complexes around Drum that are around the same price point.

I’ve lived here for close to a year! The management is none other than amazing. The property is greatly cared for and so are the apartments. Not to mention mine is very energy efficient. My dog was welcomed which was a huge plus. If your looking for a nice apartment with a great management and maintenance team this is the place to be!

very money hungry company. The windows are the originals, that were put in back in the 80s..apartments are freezing in the winter. Carpets were raggedy and probably just as old as windows. When it rains, you cant go out your door because there are no gutters and you will get drenched .Garages also flood with water when it rains. They tell you that trash is included, yet they charge you for it on your rent. wWe paid $1085 plus everything..water..sewer..electric and trash..so more closer to $1400 for a 2 bedroom apartment. In the past few months it seems they accepted anyone with the money, HUD, DSS to move in..was beginning to look like a section 8 place with unattended children running in the streets, and cramming 8-10 people into the apartment across from us..do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere. Oh and if their workers ruin your outside stuff, they'll say "we'll take care of it" DONT believe them.
