Living in Eastlake, OH

The land on which Eastlake sits today was originally inhabited by the Erie Native American tribe more than 300 years ago. The French established a trading post called "Charlton" at the mouth of the Chagrin River in 1750, but Eastlake wasn't declared a city until 1951.

Today, Eastlake residents enjoy the scenic lakeside town with all its recreational offerings, pairing natural landscapes with recreation facilities. The website additionally maintains that the Willoughby Eastlake School System sets the standard for public learning in the city.

Eastlake Attractions and Special Events

There are numerous area attractions available to residents of Eastlake apartments and visitors, including many recreational amenities and historical sites. A particularly popular attraction is the Boulevard of 500 Flags, which is a permanent display of American flags that were erected originally as a memorial to local veterans. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the city added another section to honor Americans who lost their lives when the World Trade Center was attacked. The special section includes two beams taken from the Trade Center, part of a lamp post and granite pieces taken from the towers' lobby.

The city manages several tennis and sand volleyball courts, a skateboard park and dog park, as well as numerous recreational parks. Many residents enjoy heading to the shores of Lake Erie as this is a favorite site for bird-watchers in northeast Ohio.
