Located along the Ohio Turnpike and Interstate 480 near the shores of Lake Erie, the town of Olmsted Falls is one of Ohio's fastest-growing communities. As one of Cleveland's beautiful southwest suburbs, many Olmsted Falls apartments for rent are full of northeast Ohio's finest families. Olmsted Falls is also designated as a Tree City U.S.A., the town is also known for its green spaces. According to City-Data, the word is out on this fantastic town, since Olmsted Falls has seen a 13 percent increase in population from 2000 to 2010. The city also has a high median household income, excellent schools and low crime, making many Olmsted Falls residents enjoy their way of life.
The first settlers came into Olmsted Falls in 1814 and was first known as Kingston, then Lenox. Many settlers here worked in the nearby sawmills and the city remained largely agricultural until the mid-1800s. After the Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati Railroad came into the area, this small community greatly benefitted from the commerce and industrialization it brought. Growth in the area continued to grow after World War II when interstate development and booming suburban growth began to branch out of the Cleveland area. Today, the city has grown into a charming city of more than 9,000 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and that number will only to continue to grow as more people find out about this great town.
One of the most visited attractions in the area is Rocky River Reservation, a beautiful metro park that is a welcome green space away from the jostle of the city. Complete with rugged hiking trails, three golf courses and scenic Ohio wildlife, this is a popular spot for Olmsted Falls families.
