Overview of Stow
Stow is located in Summit County, Ohio, and is a suburb of the city of Akron. It has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade and has seen an almost 9 percent boost in population. Living in Stow
The city was named after Joshua Stow, a member of the party that came to the area with Moses Cleaveland, the founder of the city of Cleveland. Stow paid just over $14,000 for the land first inhabited by the Seneca tribe, which would eventually become the city. The first settler was William Walker, who built the first house in 1802, but it wasn't officially incorporated until 1957.
Today, the city has a population of about 34,000 and is the third largest in the county, and residents living here will find plenty of economic and recreational opportunities.

Stow has more than 350 acres of parks and more than 12 miles of hiking and biking trails. Some of the well-known parks in the area include Meadowbrook Lake Park, Oregon Trail Park and Adell Durbin Park. The city also has several golf courses for residents, free tennis courts and the 33.5-mile Summit County MetroParks Bike and Hike trail runs through the city.

Though most residents drive their own vehicles, public transportation is available through the Akron METRO RTA system. Residents who drive have easy access to other local metropolitan areas via State Route 8, Interstate 71 and Interstate 77. The city is located less than 8 miles from Akron, 35 miles from Cleveland and 46 miles from Youngstown.
