Located 13 miles south of Portland, Tualatin, Ore., is a scenic city that embodies the quintessential aspects of the Pacific Northwest. Tualatin has received many accolades over the years, including a Tree City USA designation, the Governor's Livability Award and the Daily Journal of Commerce's Top Project award.
With approximately 27,000 residents, Tualatin maintains a hometown atmosphere that makes the city a great place to raise a family. Search for Tualatin apartments for rent, and find a charming community in the Pacific Northwest.
The first inhabitants of Clackamas County were members of the Clackamas tribes, who encountered eastern missionaries at the beginning of the 19th century. The Oregon Trail brought new settlers out west and eventually led to Oregon becoming a United States territory in the 1850s.
Tualatin was named after the Tualatin River, which acts as the northern boundary. The city was established in 1869 and has always maintained a close connection with the beautiful landscape. With the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge located directly to the west, residents here take advantage of many hiking, camping and canoeing opportunities.
Today, apartments in Tualatin are home to easygoing residents who enjoy a relaxed life in one of Oregon's most charming cities. The city features a diverse collection of public art along Tualatin's ArtWalk, inviting local residents to partake in the acclaimed arts culture of the Pacific Northwest.
Tualatin hosts the annual Giant West Coast Pumpkin Regatta, which invites participants to dress up in costumes and race pumpkin-shaped boats around the Tualatin Lake of the Commons. The event also includes live music, pumpkin carving, pumpkin golf, a costume contest and a pie eating contest.
The Tualatin Crawfish Festival is another local favorite, and offers a variety of food, entertainment and activities for people of all ages. With events like the Crawfish Crawl 5K, crawfish eating contest, Songs of Elvis Sing-Off, parade and crawfish boil, the festival draws crawfish enthusiasts from all over the Pacific Northwest.
The Tualatin ArtSplash is also here, which celebrates local artists with a juried art show.
