I have lived in this apartment complex over a year and a half and slowly but surely its been filled with inconsiderate pet owners. There is dog poop all over the property including the hallways. Occasionally you'll get a nice pile of urine to go along with it. Pet owners let their dogs in the pool. They gather in common areas to let their dogs run off leash and bark incessantly. The walls here are pretty thin so we can hear the entirety of all conversations that happen a good fifteen feet away in the common area, so imagine what a group of 10 dogs wrestling twice a day will do to your sanity. They pull dumpsters into the driveway almost daily leaving trash strewn about. This apartment quickly cycles through front office staff and will pretty much say whatever to make a tenant temporarily happy with no follow through. It was also poorly constructed (at no fault of the current property managers) with cheap building materials - if you leave for a couple weeks expect your apartment to smell like sewage from water sitting in the plastic PVC pipes in your walls.

I signed a 9 month lease for Post South Lamar and for the most part things were pretty good, at least initially. I liked the location of the complex, the apartments themselves were nice and updated, and there was a lot to do in the area.
Post for some reason didn't think it was necessary to have cameras in the hallways of the apartment. You have to swipe a key to get in, but that doesn't keep people out who want to get in (pretty simple). They would leave packages at people's doors all the time and they would be stolen off the door step. Luckily, this never happened to me, but many people on my floor, including my roommate had things stolen. If you were to sign in to the Post portal for residents you would see numerous people writing about stolen items. They finally made some changes and started having larger packages dropped off at the office to be picked up, but still sent smaller packages to the doorstep. Still things were stolen.
My biggest complaint with Post was the lease. As I mentioned, I signed on for 9 months. I was sent a note after 6 months asking if I planned on renewing the lease, to which I replied I wasn't. My roommate was renewing so in order to end my lease after the 9 months was up I needed to pay $350 to essentially leave the apartment. This was absolutely ridiculous. My roommate at the time had already found a friend to move into my spot when my lease was up, so there was no risk of an additional cost to them to have to find a person to take the room. When I asked what this was for they told me it was breaking the lease, which I clearly stated I wasn't doing. I wasn't leaving the apartment before the end of the lease I was simply not renewing to stay in that apartment.
Fair warning to anyone considering living at a Post property. Be aware of their policies and hidden charges they sneak by people. They are extremely difficult to deal with.There are much better places in Austin.

ALL things considered - It's great! I work across the street, have a fantastic corner unit, pay an excellent rate. Management is very friendly and easy to communicate with. Neighbors seem chill. Amenities are a nice touch. I love it, and feel fortunate to live here.

Post South lamar is in the most perfect location in Austin! Walkable to great restaurants, Alamo Drafthouse, top gyms and dog-friendly, what else could you need?

Visitor parking is terrible. They make it impossible to get a pass if you work 9-5.

Post South Lamar is a large community, but provides a very personal experience. Every time I visit the leasing office, they know my name and greet me with a smile. This is hard to find in any apartment complexes, but especially in one the size of Post South Lamar. I love my room, the layout and the modern finishes. I really lucked out finding Post South Lamar and I hope to get to stay here for a long time.
