Local Reviews

Nothing unique. No restaurants nearby. There is a park area close by to go for walking dog or just to walk. Also there is a lake close

Great walking paths and trails. not far from a recreational lake. Close to restaurants and Stores. Close to my family and friends.

Matured trees in neighborhood, wildlife, manicured yards. Lots of professionals live in the area and neighbors know each other.

I am friendly, know names and have numbers of more people in the neighborhood than most I have lived in. There are no lights, businesses, commercial operations, so it is very quiet and free of retail traffic.

I like that it is peaceful and there are kids out sometimes and there is a park nearby. Also there are stores and restaurants near as well.

I don't really like much about where I live. To many people for my liking . By walking standards it takes a good 45 to get to any stores

Belton, TX

Overview of Belton

Belton, Texas, is located in the heart of the state, just 60 miles north of Austin. The city offers a unique mix of proud history and friendly neighbors that make it a nurturing home for local residents. Approximately 18,500 people live in Belton, which allows the city to maintain the hometown environment of a close-knit southern community. Search for Belton apartments for rent, and find a new home in the Lone Star State.

Living in Belton, TX

Belton was laid out in 1850 as a pioneer town that became the last civilized place that pioneers encountered when heading west for the rest of the decade. The town's economy and infrastructure boomed in the 1870s when new enterprises, a cotton market and a comprehensive water system were built in Belton.

Today, Belton officials are dedicated to "Preserving the Past for the Future," and work to ensure that residents remember where they came from. The community offers residents the suburban lifestyle in a more energetic setting, as Belton is home to the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and the 3,200 students who attend class here each year.

Belton makes a great home for families looking to experience traditional Southern charm without paying the high living expenses of some of Texas' larger cities. Belton's cost of living index of 85.1 is well below the national average.

Belton Attractions and Special Events

Family, Fishin' & Fun is Belton's signature event and invites local families to spend the day on Nolan Creek. City officials obtain rainbow trout from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Rainbow Trout Program and add them to the creek to increase the chance of making a successful catch. At the end of the day, the fisherman who reels in the longest fish wins a prize.
