Cypress is located in southeastern Texas in an area often referred to as Cy-Fair. This nickname stems from the fact that Cypress and Fairbanks recently combined into a single neighborhood of Houston. Cypress apartments for rent are excellent ways to join the growing population of 113,805 residents.
Cypress is positioned within Harris County in the Houston-Baytown metropolitan area and when looking at the Cy-Fair area, the population has seen immense population growth of more than 50 percent from 2000 to 2010. The area is known to be one of the largest communities in Northwest Houston. Cy-Fair emcompasses approximately 186 square miles of land that includes Cypress and the city of Jersey Village. The community prides itself on offering its residents an exceptional quality of life, and many residents enjoy its prime location just outside of Houston with close proximity to major freeways.
People living in Cypress apartments can certainly enjoy being a part of a community with such a unique past and present. The Cypress Historical Society was established in 2008 in an effort to help document and preserve the antiques and historical buildings of the town. The society revealed that for many years, the area known as Cypress today was just a "wide spot in the road" along Highway 290.
The town was originally envisioned on an 1858 plat in Cypress City and incorporated 250 blocks. The Cypress Historical Society indicated that the envisioned town "just didn't happen" until the late second half of the 20th century, more than 100 years after the vision was formed. Today, Cypress is an often-frequented stop along the Northwest Freeway as people drive past going to and from Houston. Cypress is a popular haven for road warriors looking to grab a bite to eat, shop, buy groceries or get their automobile serviced before continuing on their way to one of the many subdivisions and apartment complexes that make up the Cypress scene.
The Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce revealed that the area is extremely business-friendly and Cypress apartments could be a particularly attractive option for business professionals. The business-friendly nature of the area comes from the regulations and attitude surrounding local business, making this a popular area for business startups and relocations. The chamber indicates that the region offers a pro-business culture made up of a diversified workforce and educational institutions designed to influence changing and emerging industries. Major industries in the area include construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, education and health services. The region is also proud of its small business and entrepreneurs, citing a diverse array of restaurants and other businesses that have survived the recent tricky economic climate.
Students can find the Lone Star College in Cy-Fair, which enrolls roughly 18,000 students. The Prairie View A&M University can also be found in the area as well as the University of Houston.
The Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce revealed that there are housing options for everyone in the region, ranging from master-planned communities with single-family housing to Cypress apartments with varieties for every budget, lending a neighborhood feeling to the region. The average home cost in Cy-Fair is $200,000.
City-Data estimates the number of vacant for-rent houses and condos in 2010 to be 71 when looking at just Cypress-area ZIP codes.
People living in Cypress apartments have a wealth of area attractions at their doorstep. Cypress is home to the Longwood Golf Club, BlackHorse Golf Club, Cypress Golf Club and Cypress Lakes Golf Club, so it is fair to say that people in search of a nice day hitting the links will have plenty of options to choose from.
As the area is proud of its many small and family-run businesses, people in town should consider hitting the local shops such as A Cup Of Flowers or Tea for Two. A Cup of Flowers is a small family-owned florist and Tea for Two is a great eatery stop for people in search of a blast from the past.
Residents and visitors can of course always take a quick drive to Houston to experience the multitude of entertainment options found in the city, such as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The show attracts nearly 2 million people annually and is the largest in the world.
