When I moved into Oak Bend Place, I thought all was well. That is until I started waking up with red welts on my body. For a couple of weeks, thought it was a new cleaner that I could have been allergic to, or a possible flea issue my dog may have picked up, but it wasn't. They moved me into an apartment infested with bed bugs. I discovered one on my bedroom wall 4 1/2 weeks after moving in. Upon further examination, and to my consternation, the bugs had infested every piece of furniture in my entire upstairs. I had never even seen a bed bug in my life up until this point. I was horrified. They did heat-treat the apartment, but only when I insisted something had to be done. I had to board my pets and stay in a hotel. They only reimbursed me the hotel fee. After the heat treatment in the unit, I walked in and it looked like my apartment had been ransacked. There were clothes thrown down my stairs, windows and other things broken, boxes dumped, etc. I'd followed instructions given to me to prep the apartment, apparently it wasn't good enough. Absolutely no respect was given to my personal items. The office personnel were disrespectful, condescending and clueless. They refused to allow me to transfer to another unit. I had signed a year lease, and I was not comfortable there. For my peace of mind I broke the lease after 5 months. I tried, but I could not live there. My unit was not the only unit with bed bugs... just the worst.
