Clearfield, sitting at the north end of Davis County, is a suburb of the larger metropolitan area of Salt Lake City. Those who rent property here will find quiet neighborhoods and yet still plenty to do. In fact, the city's motto, "We've Got It Made," is indicative of the area's small-town feel but proximity to big cities and family fun.
The railroad brought settlers to this area starting in 1869, but it took a while for the town to get water. Once basic necessities were established, the area saw a quick population boom. After Hill Air Force Base was completed, even more people moved to the area to take advantage of new job opportunities.
In the 2010 census, Clearfield's population came in at just over 30,000. Although the neighborhood's are quaint, this town is at the north end of what's called the Wasatch Front; this stretch of land has over 80 percent of Utah's population, so big-city resources in Salt Lake City are always just a short drive away.
Just a few miles south, families will find endless fun at one of Utah's main attractions: Lagoon. This theme park, which is ever expanding, has multiple roller coasters, a water park and live entertainment. Those looking to stay closer to their own neighborhood for entertainment will be happy to know that the Clearfield Aquatic Center, multiple ski resorts and the Hill Aerospace Museum are nearby.
Despite being on the northern end of a metropolitan area, Clearfield still has many public transportation options for those looking to rent an apartment. Public transportation for the area is run by the Utah Transit Authority, which has several bus lines in Clearfield. Additionally, FrontRunner is a commuter train that covers a good length of the Wasatch Front.
Options for higher education in Clearfield abound, making it an attractive place for students to rent an apartment. Several colleges have a campus located right in town, including Stevens-Henager College and University of Phoenix-North Davis Learning Center. Additionally, Weber State University is just a short drive south in Ogden.
With Hill Air Force Base sitting just northeast of the city, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the United States Airforce is a major employer of the area. Davis Hospital & Medical Center and Lifetime Products also offer a significant number of jobs to the town.
