Overview of Salt Lake City

Young professionals and recent graduates who work hard all week and like to blow off steam over the weekend with outdoor activities will love 1 bedroom apartments for rent in the Foothill neighborhood of Salt Lake City. There are so many reasons why people will love living in the Foothill region. This mainly residential neighborhood is dotted with plenty of parks, green spaces and golf courses that are appealing to the body and the eyes. The north end of the Foothill area houses the University of Utah, with a variety of cultural institutions like the Natural History Museum of Utah and the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.

But because of its picturesque location between the Wasatch and Oquirrh mountain ranges as well as its proximity to the Great Salt Lake, Salt Lake City's best offerings to residents of Foothill apartment rentals are the plentiful outdoor activities.

Explore the greener side of the city

Those who rent in the Foothill area will be living at the base of the Wasatch Range - close to a wide variety of backpacking, camping and rock climbing locations. The range also has hundreds of miles of hiking and biking paths, including the Salt Lake City portion of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. The trail skirts the west side of the city along the foothills of the Wasatch Range, and is part of a larger route that stretches 280 miles from the Idaho border to Nephi, Utah.

Nature and outdoor lovers can participate in the activities of the Wasatch Mountain Club or Utah Native Plants Society. The society, established in 1978, is focused on conservation and education through programs and committees dedicated to the protection of Utah's rare native plants. It hosts numerous events throughout the year, including field trips through the foothills and the canyons of the Wasatch Mountains to admire the wildflowers in the spring, views in the summer and foliage in the autumn.

North of the neighborhood, but still in the foothills of the Wasatch Range, Red Butte Garden and Arboretum is a botanical garden operated by the University of Utah. Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy floral and art exhibits, youth and adult gardening classes and creative workshops, as well as musical concerts and performances. Families can check out Red Butte Garden after a bike ride on the nearby Bonneville Shoreline Trail, just before taking a walk through the beautiful University of Utah campus or prior to hiking the Red Butte Skyline Nature Trail for a better view of the city.

Salt Lake City is considered a bicycle-friendly city, with City Creek Canyon being one of the most popular cycling routes. Cars aren't permitted on odd-numbered days, making for safe riding for you and your friends or family.

People looking at Foothill apartments for rent will also be close to many of the area's outdoor winter sports areas. Interstate 80, on the south end of the Foothill area, leads to Route 224 in the east where Iron Mountain, Park City and the 2002 Olympic Village are.
