Overview of DuPont
The beautiful town of DuPont sits right in the middle of Olympia and Tacoma on the I-5. This city's neighborhoods are surrounded by mountains, the Carr Inlet and Case Inlet. This stark contrast of land and sea means that apartment renters always have a beautiful view. Additionally, the city's close proximity to Seattle means that big city fun is never far away. All of these add up to a town that's just a great place to live.
Living in DuPont
This town has a rich and long history. It's believed that Native Americans first came to the area around 5,700 years ago. In the 1800s, things started to change when the Hudson Bay Company set up a number of fur trading posts. Several decades later, the DuPont company built an explosives factory, and the town was officially born.
Of course, despite this deep history, the town didn't actually become incorporated until 1951. That being said, the city was just a tiny village at the time of incorporation. Once the Northwest Landing development was finished, the population exploded to just under 9,000.
Thanks to the town's beautiful location, apartment renters here spend much of their time boating, hiking, fishing, taking ferry rides or playing The Home Course. Families with children, on the other hand, will want to visit one of the many parks that surround the city's neighborhoods. If the great outdoors don't call to you, then be sure to check out the DuPont Historical Museum or Red Wind Casino.
However, it's also important to remember that Seattle is just 50 minutes away. There you can catch a Seattle Seahawks game, visit The Woodland Park Zoo or tour the Museum of Flight.
Because of its small size, DuPont doesn't have a strong public transportation system. For that reason, most of those who rent here drive a car to get from their neighborhood to their destination. However, Sound Transit does provide an express bus service to the area.
