Milton, WA

Overview of Milton

Milton is a scenic town nestled in beautiful Washington state. With a close proximity to the exciting cities of Seattle and Tacoma, residents in Milton enjoy an easygoing lifestyle with big city amenities nearby. Milton has a close-knit community with only 7,000 residents, allowing people here to become very familiar with one another and feel like family. Living in Milton, WA

Milton was founded by lumber camp workers in the early 1890s when a mill was constructed overlooking the Puyallup Valley. After the U.S. Postal Service rejected the name of Mill Town, residents proposed the shortened name Milton and received approval. The Interurban Railway ran through town on its route between Seattle and Tacoma, bringing new residents and industries into the area. Today, Milton is no longer dependent on the timber trade, as most of the city's residents commute to work in larger urban areas. Residing in a bedroom community of Tacoma and Seattle, apartments in Milton are perfect for people who want to work in the city and live in a quieter, more peaceful community.

Milton Attractions and Special Events

Milton hosts an annual Milton Tree Lighting event, inviting local families to ring in the holiday season with music, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus. The jolly man will parade through town while spectators sip on coffee, hot chocolate and cider to stay warm. Milton Days is another favorite local festival with attractions for the whole family. Events include a community picnic, climbing wall, beer garden, chalk art contest, parade, food vendors and live music entertainment. Milton is also a stop along the Special Olympics Torch Run on its journey to Fort Lewis, Wash.
